about

Rowan is the cumulation of years of questioning, researching, and simply trying to find my path in this world. I am an artist, historian, genealogist, wife, and mother, attempting to learn from the wisdom of our ancestors, follow the cycles of the earth and moon, and seek balance within my own life.

Women have long had to handle pressures put upon them in how they conduct themselves, what role they play in society, and how they set their priorities. We tend to put others first, letting our own needs fall aside. We have to find a way to recognize our internal power and care for ourselves, to remember that we have value.

A simple object, scent, or image has the ability to assist us in reconnecting to ourselves and our value. At Rowan, every item is created with this in mind. Whether you are looking to experiment with herbs, oils, and stones, or simply fill your space with items that make you feel centered and empowered, Rowan is here for you. If we open ourselves to one another and to new possibilities, we may just discover a power previously hidden.

Name

The rowan tree, otherwise known as quicken, tree of stars, and enchantress of the woods, is protective and feminine, symbolizing light, creativity, inventiveness, and improvement. The essence of the rowan encourages us to take control and transform our lives by seeking knowledge and finding a balance between intuition and logic.

Mission

WOMEN SUPPORT WOMEN.

It is essential that we connect with one another and share our experiences, joys, concerns, trials, and tribulations. We are a community and we are here for one another, without judgement.

GIVE YOURSELF GRACE.

Be patient with yourself. You did not get to this point of your life overnight or without highs and lows. Practice grace within your own self as well as others.

SIMPLIFY.

Life is complex enough, we do not need to add unnecessary complications. Tap into what the earth already offers and use these gifts to both heal and inspire.

BE CONSCIOUS AND PRACTICE AWARENESS.

Be open to what is happening around you. Learn or try something new. Pay attention to the cycles and seasons of the year. Feel the subtle changes that the seasons and tides of the moon bring to your body and your psyche.

TAKE CONTROL.

It is easy to get caught up in schedules, expectations, and life in general and completely forget yourself along the way. You matter. You are neither a side note nor an addition, but rather an integral part of the equation.

STUFF IS INCONSEQUENTIAL.

Having things for the sake of having things will only get you so far. Make an effort to fill your space and your life with meaningful items that appeal to your senses and your needs.

SEEK HIDDEN POSSIBILITIES AND THINK CREATIVELY.

Sometimes there is a rule book and sometimes you are on your own. What works for one person or family may not work for another. Find your own path and travel it the best you can, however patchworked and crooked it may be.
